In memory of Mr Clive Gott

Posted 20 Feb 2011 in General

In memory of Clive Gott, inspiraional international speaker reknowned for his wit and 'tell it like it is' humour who died yesterday.

I heard today that Clive Gott, inspirational speaker, golf fanatic and all round good chap died last night at an all too early age.

I had the pleasure to see Clive on stage a few times in the past - his talks were always forthright, full of humour and absolute common sense.  He lived his life to the full having completed the Marathon Des Sables and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.

His wit and wisdom will live on as he was an exceptional teacher and touched many many lives.  He had many expressions a couple of which I urge you to take on board now.

For one - when procrastinating in the future ask yourself this - 'is this a reason, excuse or balderdash?' But possibly more relevant today than ever 'Everybody dies but not everybody lives.'

News like this reminds me of my mortality and reading the tributes flooding in to Clive's Facebook page makes me determined to be the change I want to see in the world, touch as many lives as I can, make a difference and leave a vapour trail as vivid as the one left by Mr Clive Gott.

He spent part of the last week of his life planning 5 acts of 'paying it forward' and his soulmate Elaine who had the courage to post the news on his facebook page has suggested he would have wanted not cards or flowers for him but suggested we each go and buy a bunch of flowers, either for ourselves or for someone else.  I already have mine - daffodils in tight bud - the messengers of spring and a reminder that life goes on.  As they open and begin to smile I'll be reminded of Clive and be a better person for his passing.

With love xxx
