I believe everything in life is a choice, especially the way we react or respond to events beyond our control.
Today on Mother’s Day, my three children are living miles away from me in London, Newcastle & New Zealand! I could choose to feel sad or lonely or hurt that they aren’t here with me. But how would that make me feel? How would my day be if I moped around feeling sorry for myself?
Instead I choose to pat myself on the back and congratulate myself on doing a great job and, to quote my fav song, know they love me!
Today I am celebrating the fact that I have raised them to be kind, loving, independent, adventurous happy people who in turn will help make the world a better place to be – the butterfly effect in evidence.
I believe there are only two things we can give our children – one is roots the other wings!! In other words the stability to ground them and the encouragement and knowledge for them to know they can FLY!
So – here’s to Motherhood – the most important job I’ll ever have!
Happy Mother’s Day.
